About my work

Nearly all of my work is inspired by influence of different media on our life. Everything is offered to us in a pompous manner - from goods from grocery stores up to the evening news, and those numerous messages are, inevitably, shaping our way of thinking.

At the beginning, I wanted to express my reaction over the most often used words from the TV head news. Those works have some similarity with graffiti art, and the words were written in Cyrillic.

Next phase was to “translate” those news/actions, together with reactions of people hearing them, to the symbols - punctuation marks. This “translation” made them more understandable to people all over the world, regardless the language they speak.

Beside TV news, my inspiration is often found in advertisements, which are continuously glorifying attractive things, often with very questionable other qualities. Although this description suits for many desirable things in our consumptive culture, for me, the ideal symbols of this trend were cakes and strawberries, more beautiful than tasty.

My newest work represent cakes with empty plates, now also transformed to a symbols. Bird’s perspective puts them in a position that allows us to interpret them as exclamation marks or as a full stops – as warnings or just reactions to the, always “nice packaged”, messages of media.
